RYM Report for Music Society AGM

During the season 2008/9  Roseland Youth Music has arranged for 3 groups of musicians to perform for the children of 6  local schools. This means that 384 local children have listened to music performed by professional musicians and learned about the instruments they play, the composers whose music they perform and have gained lots of musical knowledge about rhythm, melody, tempo, pitch and dynamics.

Since this scheme started in 2002 a total of 18 groups of artists have made 43 school visits and performed for 2,746 local pupils.

Roseland Youth Music has also contributed £500 towards the setting up of an 18 month choir project in our local Primary and Comprehensive Schools. This choir, Roseland Voices, will be performing as part of The Roseland Festival in October.

The schools do make a small contribution to the cost of these school visits but the shortfall is provided by Roseland Youth Music, the educational wing of Roseland Music Society. If you would like to support this work please make your donation on the enclosed application form. Thank you.
